..Troy is...

A sparkling fountain on the city square;
Victorian buildings of painted brick;
Soft spring evenings, dogwoods in bloom;
The Courthouse touched by an orange sunset;
The echo of "Taps" in Riverside Cemetery;
Little League and the Queen's Float;
Fresh strawberries, sweet whipped cream.

Friends sharing summer
On the front porches of tree-shaded streets;
The thunk of tennis balls in the city park;
Buttery ears of Fulton's corn;
Lightning bugs, fireworks on the levee;
Sousa on the Square, coffee at K’s;
The call of auctioneers
At the Miami County Fair;

Yellow buses on foggy mornings;
Gray and red jerseys, blankets, and caps;
A drum cadence, the flash of silver helmets;
"Onward, Troy," "Troy High, Live On Forever,"
"Gimme a T, Gimme an R, Gimmee an O, and a Y!"
Cross-country runners in crisp autumn air;
Scarlet oak leaves, carved pumpkins;

The Hayner dressed in gold and evergreen;
Downtown shopping on a winter's evening;
Tiny white lights surrounding the Square;
"Silent Night" sung by rosy-cheeked children;
Church windows glowing through gently falling snow.
